- The WordPress theme developer should be releasing regular updates
- The WordPress theme should be feature-rich, but lightweight for ultra fast loading
- The WordPress theme should integrate with top WordPress page builders
When you whittle down all the thousands of options available for WordPress themes, there are two absolute standouts that kick all the other's asses on a regular basis - Astra & Divi. There are some fundamental differences between the two, and both have certain benefits, but either one is an investment you won't regret making if you really want to design your adult websites from the ground up.
The basic differences & similarities of Astra & Divi:
- Astra is only a theme, and to get the most out of it, you will need to purchase an advanced page builder like Beaver Builder or Elementor
- Divi, by Elegant Themes includes both the theme and the page builder as a package
- Astra is a blazing fast theme, whereas Divi is fast, but not quite as quick as Astra
- Astra is made for churning out great looking websites very quickly, whereas Divi has a steeper learning curve for all of the advanced features it offers.
- Both Astra & Divi have pre-developed themes and pages that you can import to speed up the development process.
- Both Astra & Divi provide awesome support, but I find Astra's response time to be considerably quicker than Divi. Yes, I build websites with both. And, FYI - IntimateDomains was built with Astra and Beaver Builder.
Now lets just get into the straight dope about Astra & Divi, so you can make a decision that best fits your goals.
Going Astra
What is so great about Astra? Well, we built Intimate Domains using Astra and Beaver Builder. Astra is truly one of the most lightweight and fastest loading WordPress themes on the market. And, Astra integrates with two of the best WordPress page builders on the market, Beaver Builder and Elementor.
I like working with Astra because most of the functions are very intuitive. It doesn't take long to get it setup and configured, and there are a bunch of pre-built websites you can import and customize. Being able to import and customize a pre-built site template can speed up your development significantly and save you from trying to create some of the advanced configurations that look soooo good.
There is a free version of the Astra theme, but if you want to have access to the advanced features, including integrating Beaver Builder or Elementor, you will need to purchase a pro license. The best value is their Agency Bundle at $127 per year, or $499 for a lifetime of updates and support. There is also their full Agency Bundle that includes more features, including some powerful marketing tools.
Sure, $127 to $499 for a WordPress theme might sound kinda steep, but you have to take into consideration everything you get for your money - a lightning fast theme, consistent updates, awesome support, and the ability to churn out custom websites very quickly.
Beaver Builder & Elementor - Page Builders That Rock!
Want to touch my beaver? Haha. Ok, seriously, Beaver Builder and Elementor are two of the most powerful and well supported WordPress page builders on the market today, and both integrate seamlessly with the Astra theme.
What does a page builder do for you? Well, if you want to design and build unique porn video websites, either one of these page builders will provide the tools you need to build an awesome website. And, both are extremely lightweight page builders that won't slow down your sites.
Why should you purchase a premium page builder license when WordPress comes bundled with the new Gutenberg page builder? Simple... Gutenberg kinda sucks, and not in the good way. Gutenberg has about the worst reviews a page builder can get on the WordPress plugin directory. And, there is zero dedicated support for Gutenberg. If you have troubles, you are praying that you can get a straight answer out of the public forums.
Ok. The numbers ... The pricing for Beaver Builder and Elementor differ slightly. Both are based on an annual license that includes updates and support. Beaver Builder can be used on unlimited sites, but they have different levels of licenses depending on how many features you want. Elementor includes all their pro features on their packages, but they are based on how many sites you want to install them on.
Beaver Builder's Standard license is $99 per year for use on unlimited sites. A popular upgrade is their Pro license which also includes the Beaver Theme, and is WordPress multisite capable. The Beaver Theme is a nice theme, not nearly as advanced as Astra, but worth it if you just want to skip buying Astra and just purchase a Beaver Builder Pro license for $199 per year.
Elementor's license prices start at $49 for a single site per year. Or, you can opt for a 3 site annual license for $99 per year. And, they have a 1000 site annual license for $199 per year. Obviously, most folks purchase the $199 per year license, so they can use Elementor on more than 3 websites.
Take some time to check out both Beaver Builder and Elementor. I know you will see the value in using a premium page builder if you decide to build custom adult video websites.
Going Divi
Divi has been the big boy on the block of WordPress themes for a long time and has a very dedicated [some say fanatical] user base, and for good reason. Divi is not just a theme, but a theme and page builder bundled into a single package. You can also use the Divi page builder as a stand-alone plugin without installing the Divi theme. And, your subscription to Divi [by Elegant Themes] includes a couple other great plugins - Monarch & Bloom.
One thing to know about Divi is that there is a steeper learning curve than an Astra & Beaver Builder or Elementor combination. Divi is jam packed with advanced styling features, but figuring out how to use them can be a bit daunting. Good thing is that Divi offers great customer support, there are very, very active communities on Facebook, and tons of tutorial videos on YouTube to guide you through learning how to use Divi.
From personal experience, I can tell you that Divi is not as fast loading for site visitors as Astra, and this is due in part to everything Elegant Themes has built into it. It will take a bit longer to optimize your Divi site, but for the webmaster that wants virtually every design option known to man, Divi is unequaled in this space.
A license for Divi that you can use on unlimited websites costs only $89 per year, or you can purchase a lifetime license for just $249. Both of these options include regular updates and excellent support. I will warn you that there is a huge pool of development companies that have created some awesome plugins that work directly with Divi. In fact, the 3rd party plugins and child themes for Divi are a massive marketplace all their own. So, be aware that it is very easy to spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars on additional plugins to extend Divi's capabilities.
Wrapping It Up
When it comes to using a 3rd party website theme for your adult video websites, you can't go wrong with either Astra or Divi. Both deliver tons of custom options, and the ability to create a truly unique website. You will need to decide if you want to spend a little more money on the Astra + page builder option and be up and running quicker, or if you want to save a few dollars going with Divi and have a steeper learning curve.
I will throw out a last bit of caution ... Using a 3rd party theme, it will take longer to create your websites, and there is some possibility of having compatibility issues. But, the results you can achieve will certainly set your websites apart from the competition, and the additional features can bring additional potential revenue opportunities.
